Hamnvik trading post was founded in 1794 and is one of the best preserved in Troms. In a small cove overlooking the Astafjord, eleven listed buildings are idyllically located. The trading post is one of the few in Northern Norway that has preserved its original buildings and character, with intact interiors and furnishings. The buildings still belong to the Dons family, who have owned the place since its founding over 200 years ago.

How to get here
There are many roads that lead to Hamnvik. You can take the ferry from Harstad to Sørrollnes and follow FV 848 to Hamnvik. Another option is to turn off the E6 at Brandvoll, follow FV 851 to Sjøvegan. Here you can visit the Sør-Troms Museum before following the same road to Løksebotn where you turn left and follow FV 848 through beautiful nature and fine cultural environments south along Astafjord to Hamnvik.

Ibestad Church is a long stone church from 1881. The church is built in the neo-Gothic style. The church replaced the medieval church that stood on the same site.
The cultural environment at Sørrollnes consists of interesting buildings dating back to the 19th century and cultural monuments from the Iron Age.
The nature playground at Sørrollnes is the children's favorite.

Today, parts of the facility are used for tourism. There are restaurants, accommodation, meeting rooms and banquet rooms. Visitors can experience cultural exchange and a historical atmosphere, and handicrafts are sold in the old shop. Hamnvik trading post provides a unique insight into coastal culture and trading history, and is a living cultural monument that combines tradition with modern experiences.
