By car:
The easiest way to get to Salangsverket is by car from Sjøvegan. Follow County Road 84 (FV84) north along Sagfjorden. After approx. 8 km you will reach Salangsverket.

There is a somewhat hilly road up to Salangsverket. It may be challenging for wheelchairs and strollers.
In the early 1900s, there was a large-scale industrial development in Norway, also in Salangen. A large plant was built for the extraction and processing of iron ore. After a few years, the plant was closed down. You can experience the magnificent ruins by hiking the cultural trail at Salangsverket. If you want an even greater experience, and are in good shape, you can walk to the mining area on the mountain. There is a marked trail from Salangsverket, along the old construction road, up to the mines at Storhaugen. This trip gives you both nature experiences and knowledge about mining operations.
It is also possible to start the hike from Seljeskogen up to Storhaugen.
